Poetry in Motion: Margaret Rhodes’ prize winning photo of Robyn.

Robyn Sykes sculpts words using metaphors, metre, similes, rhyme and more. The entertaineraward-winning poet, writer, and drama enthusiast has incubated crocodile eggs, lived in Japan, edited a newspaper, focussed an electron microscope and worked on a farm.

The livewire performer is also an accomplished writer, and is published in anthologies and journals nationally, internationally and online.

The multi-award-winning writer is not your average rhyming poet. A flick of her pen makes words twist, tuck and double-somersault with pike.

At festivals, schools, community organisations, cafes and campfires around Australia and beyond, the keen performer takes her audiences on a high impact tour of modern Australia.

Robyn is passionate about nature, social issues and rural life. Her poems make people laugh, cry, think and laugh again. She loves to contribute to communities. Prepare to have your heart warmed!

Characters are Robyn’s specialty. Meet them and their creator at concerts, events and workshops at venues around Australia and beyond.

What do people say about Robyn?

Robyn showed why she was the 2012 Australian Female Champion with her energetic presentations leaving people half her age gasping in amazement:

Bill Gordon, Boyup Brook CMF.

Robyn absolutely astonished the audience with her exuberance, immense energy and pure mastery of the spoken word. For the many newcomers who attended last night, Robyn’s performance was an absolute revelation as to just how entertaining and enjoyable bush poetry can be:

Vic Jefferies, Gosford Bush Poets.

Please look after yourself, your friends and your family in this mad world of COVID 19. If you have the means, please support one of the many performing artists who have had their livelihoods evaporate.

We all have a role to play, to work towards open borders and facilitating performance opportunities. Each jab is one jab closer to opening up.
